Research materials, writings, and miscellaneous correspondence of Pierson, professor of history and political science at the University of North Carolina, relating almost completely to his interest in political institutions in Latin America. The bulk of the collection comprises photocopies and typed transcriptions of original documents held by the Spanish Archives in Seville and Simancas, concerning the origins and early development of the intendencia of colonial Cuba, 1764-1825.
